Cyber Readiness Assessment

Prepare your business accordingly for the evolving threat landscape

Cyber Readiness Assessment

Many businesses struggle to determine the extent of an ever changing landscape of business models - Cloud, mobile, social, and the Internet of Things - and the threat of new security challenges caused by the global increase of cybercrime.

As the threat landscape becomes more dynamic, adversaries become more sophisticated. Cybercrime is on the increase, and with an average annual cost of £27 billion to businesses in the UK alone, there is an ever increasing requirement to understand your organisation’s security posture.

In 2014, the UK Government introduced a framework to fulfil two functions – firstly, to provide a clear statement of basic controls that all organisations should implement to mitigate risks from common Internet threats and secondly to introduce the Cyber Essentials Assurance Framework as a mechanism for organisations to demonstrate to key stakeholders that they have taken these essential precautions.

Cyber Essentials looks at 10 basic controls:
  • Risk Management Regime
  • Managing User Privileges
  • Incident Management
  • Monitoring
  • Home and Mobile Working
  • Secure Configuration
  • Removable Media Controls
  • Malware Prevention
  • User Education and Awareness
  • Network Security

  • Improved risk management and satisfaction of compliance requirements
  • Understand current security posture across your entire infrastructure
  • Benchmark your organisation against the Cyber Essentials Framework
  • Demonstrate your cyber security capability to customers and suppliers
  • Create a remedial plan using risk and business priority
  • Use the report to self-certify against Cyber Essentials

The Intrinsic Cyber Readiness Assessment helps you to prepare for Cyber Essentials certification

The Intrinsic Cyber Readiness Assessment helps you to prepare for Cyber Essentials certification by asking a series of questions about your organisation, your system architecture and your security policies. It combines the answers to these questions with up-to- date data from the IT Security industry about vulnerabilities and threats. It then calculates the probability of a breach within your organisation, and the most likely methods to be used.

Device configurations and access policies

On completion of the assessment, Intrinsic will provide you with an understandable, nontechnical report showing overall security rating, probability of a successful attack and a clear set of actions, including budgets, to mitigate risk and help you achieve the Cyber Essentials certification.

The assessments are performed by industry-accredited consultants who have extensive security experience. Their expertise is supported by best-in- class tools and methodologies, supported by a wealth of knowledge from leading world-class vendors.

According to the Cyber Security Breaches Survey:

  • Two thirds of large firms in the UK have experienced a cyber breach or attack in the past year
  • One in four large firms who have experienced a breach did so at least once a month
  • Only half of all firms have taken any recommended actions to identify and address vulnerabilities. Even fewer, about a third of all firms, had formal written cyber security policies and only 10% had an incident management plan
